Official explanation
Resolution 26-93, CD1, FD1 proposes to dissolve the Independent Nomination Board (INB), and revert to the prior practice in which the mayor has authority to nominate members of boards and commissions, the Corporation Counsel, and the Prosecuting Attorney, without having to choose from a list of nominees provided by the INB. Likewise, the Council has the authority to appoint the County Clerk and County Auditor without having to choose from a list of nominees provided by the INB. The amendment would also change deadlines related to the nomination process, allow additional policies related to boards and commissions to be set by ordinance, and adjust notice requirements to conform with state law.
